May the 4th be with you

Why is Star Wars Day celebrated today? The reason is quite simple, and has its origin in something that happened forty years ago in the United Kingdom. It dates back to 1979, when the world was still ecstatic after the premiere of the first film in the series, "Star Wars: A New Hope" (although the fourth in the order of the universe of the franchise). On May 4 of that year, just after Margaret Thatcher was invested as British Prime Minister, her colleagues from the Conservative Party sent her a congratulatory note, which was picked up by the "London Evening News" newspaper. In it, you could read: "May the 4th be with you, Maggie. Congratulations'''.
